Bio

E.G. Silverman was a finalist for the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction for his short story collection Hardly Any Mess At All.  His novel Be My Own Father was a finalist for Black Lawrence Press's 2015 Big Moose Prize and his novel The Mailbox Maker has been named a finalist for the 2018 prize. His short story collection Wedding Night made it to a final reading for Snake Nation Press's 2015 Serena McDonald Kennedy Award, his collection Habit Swamps Logic was a semi-finalist for the 2016 award, and his collection Remembrance Suite was a finalist for the 2017 award. His short story collection A Well Regulated Militia was a finalist for Livingston Press's Tartt First Fiction Award (The University of West Alabama). Silverman’s short stories and novel excerpts have appeared in Beloit Fiction Journal, South Dakota Review, Harpur Palate, 2 Bridges Review, Fugue, Berkeley Fiction Review, Cold Mountain Review, and many other literary magazines.  His short story "Bagel Macher" will appear in the anthology The Boom Project: Prose and Poetry of the Baby Boom Generation" to be released summer 2019 by Butler Books.  He’s studied with Brian Morton, Sheila Kohler, Carol DeChellis Hill, and Jonathan Baumbach.
