My novel Be My Own Father made it through to the semi-final round of University of New Orleans's Publishing Laboratory novel/short story collection contest. This is the fourth time Be My Own Father has done well in book contests. Obviously, lots of readers like Be My Own Father. Now if only someone would agree to publish it....

My novel "Be My Own Father" was a semi-finalist for the Blue Mountain Novel Award. This is the third contest in which "Be My Own Father" has been a finalist or semi-finalist. Additionally, six excerpts (about 25,000 words total) from "Be My Own Father" have been published in a variety of literary journals.
My novel "Be My Own Father" was one of ten finalists (3 novels, 3 short story collections, 3 memoirs, and 1 essay collection) for the 2020 D.L. Jordan Prize for Literary Excellence from Columbus State University. The prize carries a $10,000 award and a contract offer for book publication.

"Bagel Macher," which was originally published in Pangolin Papers, will appear in "The Boom Project: Voices of a Generation," which will be published in the summer of 2019 by Butler Books. "Boom Project" will be a literary anthology of the Baby Boom Generation of the Ohio River Valley, edited by Bonnie Omer Johnson and Kimberly Garts Crum.
